Chandigarh : is a city and union territory in India that serves as the capital of two states, Punjab and Haryana. The name Chandigarh translates as "The Fort of Chandi". The name is derived from an ancient temple called Chandi Mandir, devoted to theHindu goddess Chandi, near the city. The city of Chandigarh was the first planned city in India.
Rock Garden : Mr. Nek Chand, the father of this amazing kingdom demonstrating how urban and industrial waste can be fruitfully recycled and used in creative pursuit. Where Rock Garden stands today was used as a dumping ground for urban and industrial waste, Nek Chand picked up Pieces of foundry for urban and industrial waste, and shaped them with his creative genius into human, animal or abstract forms. These Pieces have been innovatively displayed as sculptures in the garden. Also on display as shapes sculptured by using a verity of discarded materials such as frame, mudguards, forks, handle bars, metal wires, play marbles, pieces of state, burnt bricks and even hair recovered from barber shops, a variety form demolished structures, waste from lime kilns, discarded street lights, electrical fittings, broken sanitary ware, crockery etc. thus demonstrating how urban and sanitary were, crockery etc.
Rose Garden : Zakir Hussain Rose Garden Asia's largest Rose Garden and is spreaded over 30 acres of land having over 1600 different species or roses. These have been planted beautifully carved out lawns and flowers beds.. Every year, either at the end of February or beginning of March, a big festival known as Rose Festival, is celebrated at this garden.
Sukhna Lake : is an artificial lake at the foothills of the Himalayas, the Shivalik hills. Sukhna has a membership-based Lake Club with lawns, a gym, indoor games, swimming pool and tennis courts with both synthetic and grass courts. Boating, rowing, sculling, sailing, kayaking and water skiing can be enjoyed throughout the year.The lake, which was the venue for the Asian Rowing Championships, has the longest channel for rowing and yachting events in Asia. It also has facilities for other water sports like water surfing, skiing and sculling. Sukhna is a sanctuary for many exotic migratory birds like the Siberian duck, Storks and Cranes, during the winter months. The lake has been declared as a protected national wetland by the Government of India.
Shimla : Shimla the capital of Himachal Pradesh is a well known hill station for both domestic and foreign tourists. Its name has been derived from the goddess Shyamala Devi, an incarnation of the Hindu goddess Kali.
The Mall Road : The Mall is the main shopping street of Shimla.
Kufri : 16 km from Shimla at a height of 8,600 ft, Kufri is the local winter sports centre, and it also has a small zoo. Kufri, a small picturesque hill station at the foothills of Himalayas, is located at the southern part of the state of Himachal Pradesh and is known for its pleasing climate and scenic beauty. It is a pleasant location near the majestic hill station Shimla. Kufri, is known for its picturesque trekking and hiking trails. Adventurous travelers prefer to visit Kufri during winters to experience and enjoy the skiing along its snow clad mountainous slopes. Exquisite nature parks and scenic spots in the backdrop of natural settings are prime attractions in Kufri. One can enjoy the horse ride here or walk and enjoy the unparalleled beauty of Himalayas.
Kullu : Kullu is the capital town of the Kullu District, in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is located on the banks of the Beas River in the Kullu Valley . Kullu is a broad open valley formed by the Beas river between Manali and Largi. This valley is famous for its beauty and its majestic hills covered with Pine and Deodar Forest and sprawling Apple Orchards.The course of the Beas river presents a succession of magnificent, clad with forests of Deodar, towering above trees of Pine on the lower rocky ridges.
Mannali : Manali is situated near the end of the valley on the National Highway leading to Leh. The landscape here is breath taking. One sees well-defined snow capped peaks, the Beas river with its clear water meanders through the town. On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields and fruit orchards. It is an excellent place for a holiday, a favorite resort for trekkers to Lahaul, Spiti, Bara Bhangal (Kangra), and Zanskar ranges. From temples to antiquity, to picturesque sight-seeing spots and adventure activities, Manali is a popular resort for all seasons and for all travellers.
Rohtangpass : A lofty mountain pathway that connects Kullu with Spiti and Lahaul. This pass is a popular picnic spot in summer. All tourists going to Manali long to visit this, Rohtang Pass, which is 51 km away from Manali, presents a striking sight of glaciers, mountains and the landscape. Adventure sports such as skiing, mountain biking and paragliding can be enjoyed at this place.
Hadimba Temple : Locally known as DHOONGRI TEMPLE dedicated to goddess Hidimba, wife of Bhima of Mahabharat. It has four-tiered Pagoda shaped roof and the doorway is carved with legendary figures and symbols. This temple located amidst wooden forest of deodar, nice place to visit.
Vasista Hot Springs : The Vashisht hot springs are across the Beas River, about 3.2 Km away from Manali bus stand, just above the Manali-Keylong road. Vashisht, renowned for its temples and sulphur hot springs, endowed with great healing powers. Nearby is the pyramidal stone temple dedicated to Vashishta Muni, and there is a Temple of Lord Rama here.
