DAY 2

NEGOMBO - PINNAWALA - KANDY

fter breakfast, we will proceed to Kandy via Pinnawala. Pinnawala’s Elephant Orphanage and Spice Garden are the main attractions in the area. Kandy is a beautiful and exotic city, located in the hills, and was the last stronghold of the Sinhala kings. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site that has retained its grandeur over time. The city is encircled by hills and has a tranquil lake at its center. It is the site of the renowned temple that enshrines the Tooth relic of the Lord Buddha, and the Royal Botanical Garden, which is home to one of the world’s best collections of orchids. Kandy is a cultural sanctuary that keeps many legends, traditions, and folklores alive. The city and its satellite villages are the center of the island's handicraft industry of wood, brass, and silver. You can find exquisite silver or gold jewelry and precious gems of many varieties, including the world’s best blue and star sapphires. The holy Temple of the Tooth in Kandy is the most sacred shrine of Buddhism. It is within this glorious temple that the palladium of the Sinhalese nation and Buddhist faith are enshrined. Kandy is a prime monument and the supreme structure not only of the Sinhalese Buddhist public of Sri Lanka but also of Buddhists all over the world. We will spend the night in Kandy.

DAY 3

KANDY - RAMBODA - ASHOKA VANA - NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast, we will visit the Hanuman Temple and the Seetha Amman Temple on our way to Nuwara Eliya. The Hanuman Temple is located on the hills of Ramboda, where Hanuman searched for Sitadevi. The Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka has built a temple here with Hanuman as the presiding deity. On every full moon day, special poojas are conducted, which are witnessed by thousands of devotees. This temple is known as the Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple, and it has a 16-feet high image of Lord Hanuman. The Gaythri Peedam is believed to be the place where King Ravana's son, Meghan, propitiated Lord Shiva with penance and poojas and was granted supernatural powers by Lord Shiva. This is the first and foremost temple built for Gaythri Amman in Sri Lanka, and the Siva Lingam found in this temple was brought from the holy river Narmada. The Seetha Amman Temple is located by a stream that runs from the hill and catered to the needs of Sitadevi during her stay at Asoka Vatika. She is said to have bathed in this stream. There is now a temple for Lord Rama, Sitadevi, Lakshmana, and Hanuman by the side of this stream. It is interesting to note that footprints akin to Lord Hanuman are found by the river, and some are small, while some are large, which tells us of the immense power of Hanuman transforming himself into any size. Nuwara Eliya is a town in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, meaning "city on the plain" or "city of light." It is a picturesque town with a temperate climate and a landscape dotted with green tea plantations, bubbling streams and waterfalls, and overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the highest mountain in Sri Lanka. It was once the favorite hill station of the British in Sri Lanka and is now the most famous hill resort in the country. We will also visit Gregory's Lake and see the golf course. If you like, you can enjoy horse riding too. Divrumpola means "a place of oath." This is the place where Sita underwent the Agni test. She came out unscathed, proving her innocence and purity. We will have an overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.

DAY 4

NUWARA ELIYA - COLOMBO

After breakfast, you will proceed to Colombo. In the evening, you will go for Colombo sightseeing before being dropped off at the airport. Colombo is the trade capital of Sri Lanka and is a city that has undergone rapid changes. While most of the old buildings have been replaced by new apartments and office buildings, some parts of the city still retain their old charm. The 100-year-old clock tower built by the British and some colonial buildings remain as examples. The Independence Square, Nelum Pokuna, Pettah Bazaar, and BMICH are some of the main highlights of the city. Colombo also provides ample entertainment in terms of an active, as well as shopping experiences you'll never forget. You will stay overnight in Colombo.
